Tripura University started its journey in 1987 under the Tripura University Act with the objectives “to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities” in the state in areas of contemporary relevance to the society and the country (with the motto “pursuit of excellence”) but to make special provisions for studies in tribal life and culture and to introduce vocational subjects with a view to provide employment opportunities to the students. The Act specifically enjoins the University to organise specialized diploma, degree and post-graduate courses in certain subjects. Keeping that spirit of the Act in consideration, Tripura University started its journey in 1987. Tripura University Exam Pattern Post Graduate Courses: The PG courses are held for a duration of 2 years (4 semesters). PhD Programs: The PhD Programs are held minimum for a duration of minimum 3 years. Diploma and Certificate Courses: The duration of diploma and certificate Course depends upon particular course. It varies between 6 months to even 2 years.
